Scientific research of solid objects, gas, and dust in space starting from nearby components of Solar System and extending out to farthest observed objects in the Universe. Research of space originating atmospheric phenomena (aurorae, meteors, etc.) and of the Earth as part of planetology are also included in astronomy.
