100 Hours of Astronomy
Tuorla Observatory holds open house days in honour of the
International 100 Hours of Astronomy event in April 2009.
Additionally Tuorla Planetarium is open to public at no charge
with a special IYA planetarium programme.
On Thursday 2nd April 2009
- Tuorla Planetarium shows an about one hour long programme
"Eyes on the Skies" commencing at 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 4 pm,
6 pm, and 8 pm. The show is presented in English with Finnish
subtitles. It is free of charge.
On Friday 3rd April 2009
- Tuorla Planetarium shows an about one hour long programme
"Eyes on the Skies" commencing at 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 4 pm,
6 pm, and 8 pm. The show is presented in English with Finnish

On Saturday 4th April 2009
- the observatory buildings are open to public from 11 am to 8 pm.
- 1 metre ja 0.7 metre telescopes are presented to public between 11 am
and 9 pm
- the Sun will be shown to public, weather permitting, at the 0.4 metre
telescope between 12 noon and 4 pm
- at 1:15 pm a public lecture (in Finnish): "Mitä tiedämme
vieraista planeettakunnista" (Samuli Kotiranta)
- at 3:15 pm a public lecture (in Finnish): "Universumin pimeä
puoli" (Leena Tähtinen)
- at 5:15 pm a public lecture (in Finnish): "Maailmanloppu"
(Hannu Karttunen)

peek to the sky with observatory telescopes, beginning at 9 pm.

The Saturday and Sunday public lectures are free of charge and last
about 30 minutes. There is room for 50 first ones present in the lecture
