Tuorlan observatorio muodostaa tähtitieteen osaston Turun yliopiston Fysiikan ja tähtitieteen laitoksessa. Yhdessä fysiikan osastoon kuuluvan Avaruustutkimuslaboratorion kanssa observatorio muodostaa Väisälän avaruustutkimuskeskuksen VISPA:n (Väisälä Institute for Space Physics and Astronomy).
