Venus Transit at Tuorla Observatory, 8 June 2004

All of the images of Venus below show two projections of the Sun from the two auxiliary telescopes Perttu Keinänen had prepared for this purpose. The weather at Tuorla was quite cloudy on the day but on a few occasions we were able to see the Sun and Venus on it. See also Perttu's page of the transit.

Venus Transit 2004

Venus on the disk of the Sun at 11:22 local time (08:22 UT). This particular photo has additional enlargements of both projected images of Venus. The larger one has been magnified four times and the smaller one eight times from the normal size. Coloured edges of Venus are due to aberration in the optics (and hence not due to Venusian atmosphere).
