Taken at 08:51 this is the first of my Mercury pass photos.
The entire Sun is visible. The largest visible detail is a sunspot
area near the centre. Mercury is near the right edge of the Sun. Some
more sunspots are just visible near the left edge of the Sun.

This is a detail of the photo above. The sunspot area and Mercury have
been copied into the inserts to enhance their features. The four small
inserts in the left show the internal structure of the sunspot, which
appears in the left end of the main photo. The left-hand large insert
enhances the fainter surrounding of the sunspot. The right-hand large
insert magnifies Mercury, which appears at the right end of the main
photo - near the edge of the Sun. The small insert at right over-exposes
the Mercury area to better show the planet. The funny shape of the disk
of Mercury appears in several photos - regardless the camera orientation,
exposure time, time of taking the photo, or any other factor.

across the solar disk.
